  3. Orlando Regional Rehab Institute

Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute (OHRI) provides comprehensive services to patients in the Central Florida community and beyond. Inpatient services help recently hospitalized individuals to transition safely to their home environment. Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute patients directly benefit from Orlando Health’s network of services, including specialized physicians, state-of-the-art equipment and diagnostic services, and treatment options not available at other centers. Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute also has the unique distinction of being near the region’s only Level One Trauma Center at ORMC, where critical care services and physicians have knowledge of the patient from the onset of their injury or illness. The Inpatient rehabilitation services are conveniently located on the 12th and 14th floors of ORMC's North Tower, the institute focuses on the rehabilitation of patients following a recent hospitalization or to prevent acute episodes of rehospitalization. Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute is recognized by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

CARF recognizes our 4 specialty programs as meeting the highest standards in quality, safety and outcome measures, which provide risk-reduction and accountability in our patient care.

  • Brain Injury Program
  • Spinal Cord Injury Program
  • Stroke Program
  • Comprehensive Inpatient Program

The rehabilitation team includes physiatrists, certified rehabilitation registered nurses, physical therapists, occupational therapists, speech language pathologists, registered dieticians, neuropsychologists, recreational therapists and social workers who collaborate to assist each patient in meeting their individualized rehabilitation goals. OHRI is proud to offer some of the most advanced technology to assist our patients on their path to recovery: Zero G Treadmill Training, Upper and Lower Extremity Bioness, Armeo, Pressure Mapping, and Virtual Reality Training, just to name a few. Holistic and patient-centered care is our primary goal as we assist you and your family in overcoming barriers and coordinate safe transition back to home and the community.

Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute provides rehabilitation care to inpatients on a 24-hour, 7 days a week basis. A patient first philosophy is the foundation of all of our programs. Rehabilitation nurses are an essential part of the interdisciplinary team and they are involved in all decisions regarding patient care and the rehabilitation program. Therapists and nurses work closely with other members of the team to develop and implement the plans of care for each patient. Our social workers play a key role as the coordinators of care for each patient by facilitating team conferences, meeting with patients / families, and communicating with insurance companies.

An interdisciplinary, (meaning involving multiple specialty areas), approach is used for providing care to the patients at the Orlando Health Rehabilitation Institute. The staff or team members employed by the rehabilitation unit are competent, qualified, ethical, and licensed and/or certified where required. This interdisciplinary team communicates routinely throughout the day to provide quality integrative care.
