Cornerstone Hospice & Palliative Care has joined with ORMC at the downtown Orlando campus to open the only in-hospital hospice resource in the area with a dedicated, 24/7 hospice team that reflects exceptional Cornerstone care standards. The new, ORMC 22-bed unit was designed from floor to ceiling to create a warm, homelike environment that caters to patients and families. The spacious suites are finished in soft colors and given lamps and window treatments to make them feel more like quiet retreats than hospital rooms. Nightstands have small refrigerators to store familiar comfort foods and snacks. Dressers have shelves for favorite books and family photos. A sleep/sofa, sleep/recliner, and chairs in each room make it easier and more comfortable to spend quality time – or even stay – with loved ones. Cornerstone Hospice Care Center at Orlando Health has special accommodations for your family and visitors thanks to a dedicated Family Room – a comfortable place where everyone can relax and have a cup of coffee, share a meal or watch TV and still be close to loved ones. Just down the hall, a Reflection Room with dim lighting and a beautiful stained glass window is an intimate spot for quiet meditation or prayer. The goal is to provide patients with whatever pain and symptom management needs they may have in an environment of exceptional comfort. Sometimes this additional attention ensures a smooth transition to another stage of care.
