The Rehabilitation Institute at St. Mary’s Medical Center is committed to improving patients’ quality of life and helping to adapt to life changes resulting from disease, trauma and congenital deficits. Our comprehensive, interdisciplinary inpatient rehabilitation program. Our center works with an interdisciplinary team of physiatrists, rehabilitation nurses, physical, occupational and speech therapists, therapeutic recreation specialists, neuropsychologists, case managers, nutritionists and pharmacists. These healthcare professionals meet weekly to discuss patients’ progress toward goals, treatment plans and appropriate discharge planning.

The Highest Standards:
The Rehabilitation Institute is accredited for its comprehensive rehabilitation, stroke and brain injury programs by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF). This accreditation demonstrates our compliance with the highest standards in quality, safety and outcomes.

Our Program:
Patients complete therapy at least three hours per day, five to seven days per week. Assessment and treatment activities focus on functional skills, education and support services to help optimize independence. These activities are structured to meet patients’ individualized needs and goals.

The Role of Your Loved Ones:
Families and caregivers are an integral part of the patients’ healthcare team and work collaboratively to help set goals, develop plans of care and facilitate reintegration into home, community, school and work environments. Families are encouraged to observe and participate in therapy to learn how to assist with care, and to help their loved one maintain the highest possible level of independence.
